Ten Thousand Dreams
Last year I set myself a goal of hitting 10,000 followers on Instagram by the end of the year and while I just missed out on hitting my target my goal was finally realised this month. Now i know that 10,000 followers in the grand social media scheme might not seem like much, especially when you consider some of our other home grown boutiques who are sitting pretty in the 100 thousands and even millions (Sabo Skirt currently sits at a cool 1.4millon followers) but to me this represents growth in my business and 10,000 people who have taken the time to follow my journey, for which I am eternally grateful.
Social media has been the lifeline of my business. When I first started I started with nothing, I still had a full time job and bought stock bit by bit using my own money, I did my own product photography and modelling (which I still do a lot of) and I had absolutely no budget for marketing. It’s no secret the importance of social media, after all it’s been responsible for turning everyday snappers into celebrities and many even make a career out it. Facebook and Instagram were and still are my main method of advertising and also give me a way of connecting with my customers which is invaluable as it can be hard to do this with an online store. It has helped me put a face to my business and hopefully lets my customers get to know me as a person.
So with this is mind I wanted to take a moment to celebrate this small but important milestone and take the time to Thank every single one of my new (and existing) friends.
