Bump Love Maternity

There have been many surprises since falling pregnant. Sure there are the obvious mental and physical changes but one thing I didn't expect was how hard it would be to find maternity clothes that I actually want to wear.

There are a ton of Maternity labels and stores out there but what I soon discovered was that just because something is labelled “Maternity” doesn’t actually mean that the style is flattering for your growing bump. Many of the labels I found either had outdated styles (Hello…. Just because I have a bump doesn't mean I need to dress like I’m 70. What’s with all these layers and ruffles??) or where made out of inferior fabrics (Mumma needs double layered fabric please).

Thankfully, after a lot of trial and error (and returned online shopping) I have found a few labels that tick all the boxes for me and have beautifully flattering styles made from high quality fabrics and are both pretty and practical (pre and postnatal). One such label I came across is a local Perth label, Bump Love Maternity.

I’m even more excited about this label because as you know, being the owner of a WA small business myself I love to support local businesses.

Two pieces I absolutely fell in love with were their Ella Sleeveless Ruffle Dress & Emma Tie Front Dress.

Unfortunately because of my third trimester belly the Ella Sleeveless Dress was just a little too short at the front for me to wear comfortably at this stage of my pregnancy. Instead I have been wearing it as an oversized top and I have to say I love it even more because of this versatility. The dress has a simple button up style which is also suitable for breastfeeding post bump (insert big “tick” here) and is perfect for warmer months if worn as a dress or cooler months when layered as I have below. It’s a piece I will continue to wear most of the year pre and post pregnancy.

The Emma Tie Front Dress is made from a lightweight cotton so is designed more for the warmer months however by adding a simple denim of leather jacket and some maternity support tights (hidden underneath for support and warmth), it’s easily adapted to Autumn. The front unties for breastfeeding post birth and the shirred elastic back ensures it will match your changing size. I also loved that the cut around the arms was a little fuller to hide any bumps around the breast and underarm area. Since my breasts started growing rapidly after falling pregnant I noticed this area overflowing my bra in no time! I thought it was very clever to consider this in the design of the dress… no more arm fat. The dress was just so incredibly comfortable and cute all over.
